There are many reasons one may want to get a new garage door. Note that getting a new garage door is somewhat expensive, especially if you go for one of the very nice looking ones, but sometimes, you simply have to cough up the money and replace your garage door.
The first reason to get a new garage door is to replace an old one. If your garage door doesn’t close quit right or is starting to bow or look worn, it’s certainly time to get it replaced. Some garage doors, especially ones that are very cheap, aren’t made out of quality material, and over time and exposure to the elements, you’ll start to see them bow a bit. The paint may also start chipping off, although if that’s all that’s wrong with them, you may simply opt for a paint job instead of a full replacement.
Another big reason to replace ageing, worn out garage doors is if you’re selling your home. While older garage doors may be fine with you, they may be an issue with anyone looking to purchase your home. Since many people create their first impression of a house from how it looks on the outside, a new garage door can help your home make a great first impression. If in doubt, ask your estate agent. They can usually tell you what investments you can make to your home that will increase its selling price.
Some people decide to get a new garage door because they’re updating their home. A new garage door can be a part of new landscaping, new siding, or a new paint job. Because a garage door is a large item, changing it is very noticeable and can even make your home look really different, especially if you install the new garage door at the same time you make other cosmetic changes to your home.
You may also want an automatic garage door. Some garage doors can actually be upgraded with an automatic opener, but some, especially older ones, may have to be completely replaced. Of course, even if your garage door can be upgraded, you may want to use that as an excuse to buy a brand new door.
If you’re planning on adding on to your garage, you may need to purchase a larger door or an additional door. Before you begin your upgrade plans, see what measurements larger garage doors come in. You don’t want to have to special order a garage door because you’ve built a strange sized garage. Doors made to fit a non-standard size are, of course, going to be much more expensive than those pre-made to fit the normal garage size.
No matter what reason you have for getting a new garage door, be sure to do a little research before you purchase one. There are many different styles of garage door out there, and you want to be sure you get one that matches your home’s look.

During the 1700s a Cockatrice terrorized the village at Renwick when the local church was being demolished, and this legendary creature was described as resembling a bat. Villagers would say that they could sense the presence of this creature due to a sudden chill in the air. The beast was eventually slain with a rowan branch by John Tallantire.
However, the classic description of a Cockatrice is a large rooster with a serpent’s tail, and the creature has reportedly been seen since in 1959. Perhaps Tallantire had not killed the legendary Cockatrice after all?

The legend of Kitty Jay and the grave is well known around Devon. It is a fascinating story and there may be more elements of truth in it than people think.
Kitty Jay was so called as Kitty was a nickname given to her by a farmer’s son who admired her. Her name was thought to be Mary. Kitty fell in love with the farmer’s son and soon became pregnant after a secret affair with him. Kitty worked at the farm for slave labour and was released after becoming pregnant; she was also branded as a slut by the other residents of the farm. (more…)

One of many well known stately home hauntings the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall is possibly the most famous of all.
Raynham Hall is found in a rural location between the Norfolk towns of Fakenham and Swaffham. There have been many sightings of the so called Brown Lady since her death in 1726. She is thought to be Dorothy Walpole, the sister of Britain’s first ever Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole of Houghton Hall.
Although those who have had the experience of meeting her ghost recollect it to be a very frightening, it is understood that during her life she was a well liked, charming lady. Although this is so, it is believed that it was her obsession with flamboyant attire caused a rift between herself and her husband the second Marquess Townshend.

Castle Rising, located close to the Norfolk towns of King’s Lynn and Hunstanton, was once been a busy seaport, although the sea is now situated over four miles away.
Although now in ruins, the Castle was obviously very grand and handsome. Queen Isabella, who resided at Castle Rising Castle was a French princess married to Edward II. It is believed that he neglected her and eventually she died quite mad due to loneliness and isolation.
In 1327, Edward was deposed in favour of his son, and the former King was eventually murdered by a close friend and lover of Isabella’s, Roger Mortimer. The young king became more uneasy with Mortimer’s growing power and eventually ordered a raid upon his castle in Nottingham Tintagel where he and Isabelle were, for him to be arrested. The Queen is said to have screamed and pleaded for her lovers life, but all to no avail as he was later convicted of the King’s murder and hanged at Tyburn in 1330.
The Queen was then sent to Castle Rising where her son demanded she never been seen in public again. He did however, allow her a few knights and ladies to keep her company. Twenty Seven years later Isabella passed away, after becoming demented some years previous.
It is reported that her shrieks and manic, crazy laughter can still be heard echoing around the castle and its grounds.
